| Description: | When the glass on the blowpipe needed to be removed to allow another part of it to be worked on, a solid metal rod called a “punty” was used (held by a second glassblower not visible in this photo). One method of blowing flat glass was the “rondel,” a circular disk created by spinning out a “gather” of glass. David Smith (1864-1946) was the principal glassblower. |
